Guided Forest Therapy
Dr. Kurt is a certified Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, and regularly leads therapeutic walking for individuals and groups to experience the “Healing Power of Nature.”
Guided Forest Therapy is an opportunity to get away from the stresses of your daily life, and embrace the gentle healing of the forest. We engage in Forest Therapy with an intention of openness to possibility. Entering the forest allows us to experience things with a new perspective, and come away with additional tools to address some of the challenges in our lives. By taking the time to be aware of our selves and our natural surroundings, we create opportunities for new insights and new healing to occur.
A substantial amount of research has been conducted on Forest Therapy experiences showing preventive, restorative and therapeutic benefits for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. While we have no expectations for a Forest Therapy session, people often report feeling calmer, less stressed, more clear-headed and more present.
Each Forest Therapy session is unique, depending on factors such as location, weather, composition of the group, and which aspects of the forest show up that day.
Sessions typically last 2 hours, and involve a combination of walking, sitting, reflecting, and sharing with the group.
These sessions do occur in forested terrain throughout the seasons, so appropriate footwear and clothing is required.
Due to the introspective component, and to limit potential distractions, young children and pets are not permitted on a typical guided Forest Therapy session.
